HOUSES
at The Winterton Federation

Houses in primary school play an important role in fostering a strong sense of belonging and community. By being part of a House, children feel connected to something bigger than their individual class, creating bonds across different year groups and encouraging positive relationships throughout the school. The House system promotes teamwork, collaboration and healthy competition, allowing pupils to work together towards shared goals in sport, learning and enrichment activities. It also provides opportunities for leadership, responsibility and mutual support, as older pupils model positive behaviours for younger members. Most importantly, Houses help every child feel valued, included and proud to represent their team, strengthening school identity and ensuring that each pupil feels they truly belong.
House System
In September 2025 , after much consultation, we introduced our new House system to school.
So far…
- Parents and children were asked to create 4 houses
- Entries were shortlisted by staff
- Final 3 entrants were voted for on Democracy Day using the North Lincolnshire ballot boxes
- The winning entry was selected
- The drawings were sent to a graphic designer to make into school logos
- Pupils participated in a sorting ceremony to be allocated their house
- A special worship sorted staff into houses
- School Council selected local charities to attach to the houses
- First charity events planned for the week leading up to half term
