Winterton Junior School

We are delighted to welcome you to the website for Winterton Junior School, where we shine together and learn forever, as the beacon for learning. We are one half of The Winterton Federation, and are incredibly proud of all the children, staff and families that form our unique community. We are a school family, who work for our families. Ofsted recognised this in June 2025: ‘Pupils are proud to welcome visitors to their happy, caring and inclusive school. From the playground to the classroom, the atmosphere is friendly, warm and positive… every opportunity is taken to help pupils to grow their character.’ Winterton Junior School is a welcoming, inclusive, innovative and enriching school, where we work tirelessly to grow children who are proud to live in our community. We have an open-door policy for all our families, so please come and see us in action.

Our vision is “To Be the Beacon for Learning.” This means we want our school to shine brightly, just like a light on a hill that everyone can see. Jesus said that we should let our light shine so that we can show kindness, hope, and goodness to others.

We believe that every child and every adult has a special light inside them—your talents, your ideas, your personality, and the things that make you you. Our job as a school is to help your light grow stronger and brighter every day.

Our motto is “Learning Together, Shining Forever.” This means:

Learning Together – we help each other, support one another, and learn as a team.

Shining Forever – everything you learn here, and the person you become, will stay with you for the rest of your life.

This vision guides everything we do in school. In lessons, we help you discover new things, ask questions, and become confident and curious. In assemblies, clubs, and trips, you get chances to try new experiences and shine in different ways—through creativity, friendship, teamwork, and caring for others.

Our staff shine too! Teachers and all the grown-ups in school use their gifts and strengths to help you learn and to make our school a happy and safe place.

We also want our school to shine for the whole community, by being welcoming, supportive, and full of hope.
